Dr. Chris Bartels of Green Mountain Hernia Specialists

Welcome new member Dr. Chris Bartels and Practice Manager, Christine Forkas, of Green Mountain Hernia Specialists PLLC in Colchester, Vermont!

Green Mountain Hernia Specialists provides outpatient general surgical care using a direct care model. Some procedures, such as hemorrhoid banding or lesion excision, can be done in the office. They can perform punch biopsy, excisional and incisional biopsy in the office. All other surgeries (including hernia repair, open and laparoscopic, and gallbladder surgery) are performed at the award-winning Green Mountain Surgery Center in Colchester. 

Dr. Bartels is a general surgeon who has been in practice since 1998 and who recently came to Vermont in 2020 with his wife, Amy Gennari, M.D.  A former Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Bartels has a 4.9 star rating from former patients and was voted by his peers as one of Pittsburgh's best surgeons for 8 years running.
